Summary
A novel in diary form in which the youngest daughter of Czar Nicholas II describes the privileged life her family led up until the time of World War I and the tragic events that befell them.
Summary
Summer, 1914. The Romanovs are aboard the Standart, the Russian royal yacht. Tsar Nicholas, Tsaritsa Alexandra, their four daughters, and the young Tsarevitch Alexei are sailing to Romania to meet Crown Prince Carol and his parents. But life inside the palace is far from a fairy tale. Secrets are taking a toll on the family, and conditions are dire beyond the palace walls. As the years pass, peasants chafe under the burden of extreme poverty; Tsar Nicholas's leadership power weakens; and Germany declares war on Russia. Nothing in Anastasia's world will ever be the same.
