Summary
A story of small town life in Missouri after WWI. Times are changing, crime has risen enough to warrant the town's hiring a police chief, and as the country roars into the Jazz Age, no one can remain untouched. The summer explodes with a series of rapes that send fear rippling through the town. In the midst of the turmoil a returning veteran, Evan Johnson tries to win the heart of Julie Jones but things change when Evan is suddenly charged with murder.
