Summary
All the Pretty Horses is set in the late 1940s and features the travels and toils of a 16-year-old East Texan named John Grady Cole, caught in the agonizing purgatory between adolescence and adulthood. The Crossing is a story about a boy who returns to New Mexico after attempting to return a wolf to its home in the mountains of Mexico, to find his parents murdered and the family's horses stolen. He finds his brother and the two cross back into Mexico to reclaim what is theirs. The Cities of the Plain is the story of a young man named Grady who falls in love with a Mexican prostitute while working on a remote ranch in New Mexico. He embarks on a dangerous quest of the heart when he attempts to rescue her from her owner. His friend Billy tries to protect him, but it soon demands sacrifices greater than either can control.
